Flashbacks

king of the kooks
A lot of people who lived through the 60's say the king of the kooks was Timothy Leary. This guy had a reputation IN 60's BERKELY of being kooky. A lot of people thought he was mad. But the difference between a mad person and a kook is that the mad person actually believes the shit they spout out their ass like chronic acidic diarrhea. Stuff like "Families should trip on LSD together." Families should definitely NOT trip on LSD together. Not my family anyway, thank you.

As you may or may not care, I am not into personal value judgments as a rule. But I think Flashbacks transcends Leary's kookiness. This book is a confession. A book where Leary stops playing and starts baring his soul. Flashbacks kept my wandering mind's eye glued to every word.

If you like the 60's but think Timothy Leary was some wiry little acid geek than you need to read this book. He was about as geekish as James Bond and a lot saner than some other mad psychologist occult priests I have read about.

And to set the record straight I am not "anti-LSD". I have taken it like 20 or 30 times. I've had good trips and bad. It's best with a side order of ecstasy. Despite what the DEA says I think it's perfectly okay if teenagers want to trip LSD together. Just don't pretend its anything mystical or religious. It's just a lot of fun if you do it with good people.
